1000 gpm total for ALL standpipes.

That is my understanding of it.

Subject: Standpie Calc

Below is a direct quote from NFPA 14 2007 edition.

7.10.1.1.1 For Class I and Class III systems, the minimum flow rate for the
hydraulically most remote standpipe shall be 500gpm, and the calculation
procedure shall be inaccordance with 7.10.1.2

7.10.1.1.3 The minimum flow rate for additional standpipes shall be 250 gpm
per standpipe, with the total not to exceed 1250gpm or 1000 gpm for
buildings sprinklered throughout

My question is for a sprinklered building what is the total standpipe system
flow rate 1000gpm or 1500gpm? The "total" referred to in 7.10.1.1.3 can be
interrupted as referring to only the additional standpipes. So you would
have 1000gpm in additional standpipes and 500 for the most remote?

Thoughts???
