We have a customer, a VA Hospital, that is trying to justify changing from Standard response to quick response sprinklers. We have discussed the RTI and other factors that make the QR's respond faster, but he is asking if we know of any time differences that are verifiable. What he needs is some idea that QR's respond in X seconds and Standard response respond in Y seconds to show the difference. I have looked in the sprinkler handbooks ( 1999 to 2007) and the Fire Protection Handbook, but only find references to RTI, no actual times. The FM standard lists 1:15 as the time for QR, but I could not find standard response. Any help is appreciated.
