Dear Friends,
I have a question about a sprinkler system, with the specifications below:
- Main fire pump outlet pressure: 9 Bar.
Most Remote Room Specifications:
- Number of sprinklers in the room: 140 Pcs
- Required Density: 24.5 l/min/m©÷
- Most remote sprinkler pressure loss: 2.5 to 3 Bar.
- One sprinkler covarage: 9m©÷
As the density is 24,5 l/min/m©÷ and (1spk /9m©÷) so flow rate of each
sprinkler is 220.5 l/min=58.3 GPM
Q=K¡îP then 58.3 = K ¡îP
If K=80 (or 5.55) then 58.3 = 5.55 ¡îP then P = 7.6 Bar
If K=160 (or 11.1) then 58.3 =11.1 ¡îP then P = 1.9 Bar
- If we choose K=80, as the pressure at most remote sprinkler is about 6 -
6.5 Bar so the available pressure is less than the required sprinkler pressure
which is 7.6 Bar.
- If we choose K=160, we don't have pressure problem but the density will
be more than what we require. GPM = 11.1 ¡î(6x14.51) = 104 GPM
Can anyone kindly let me know what K factor should I choose and why?
Thanks for your help,
Reza
