Subject: RE: Metraflex "Never Trip Auxilary/condensate drain valve"

Thom-
Have a couple here, and suggested some improvements, we worked a little with
the designer who's right up in Lewisburg, 20 min away.

It's a VERY NICE unit- Looks nice, very high quality- we suggested making a
less-frills one, they concentrated on a super HQ version, and there's only a
limited market for these at whatever $ they want for em, but there may be a
larger market at 50% over the cost of std version of drum drips.

The suggestions weren't to improve, they were more for affordability.
Frankly, they built a heckuva mousetrap. And if you compare the cost and
rather high probability for a "maintenance crew" draining drum drips
screwing it up, despite how ez something like this looks to us, they'd pay
for themselves in the first time you prevent a flood and FD response in a
big box store especially- this pops into my mind since we'd had this type of
call before, and you could buy a lot of these for the price of emergency
service and clean up. I qualify "maint crew" since this person wasn't part
of a maint dept, just a drone told how to drain drum drips and screwed up. I
didn't want to be slamming maint guys that often do a great job.

Had a job recently where they'd make sense (even if the installation didn't)
where dry branchlines were run under a 24" high platform, so a conventional
drum drip would have had to have been angled to work. The A/E didn't want to
say "No" to the AHJ so they ran lines 18" AFF- with the required clearances,
there'd been room for a piece of paper laid flat on the ground (?).

See ya next week!

Has anyone installed these in place of Drum Drips? And how satisfied are
they with the cost vs. operation?
