I'm also the other side of 50 (just), but I applaud Karen's effort.
I'm also a subscriber to Sprinkler Chat, but that is a venue that has
not taken off and I have gotten few, if any, responses to my
inquiries. Maybe this will work. The next generation of
designers/contractors/FPEs/AHJs/NFPA execs are going to be coming
from the MySpace generation. We're going to have to allow for them
just as our parents had to allow for us. There are other Forums that
have peacefully coexisted with this, so I don't see this as a threat,
just an expansion of discussion.

I also know if my designers are going to be chatting, it'll be on AFSA's
sprinklerCHAT, not MySpace if they want to remain employed here. You guys
obviously are free to chat wherever and whenever you want, it's a free
internet. I've had a few off-Forum discussions in my day, heck sometimes we
even meet in person! Like next month, at the Annual AFSA Convention.
My opinion is that the vehicle you seek for informal CHAT already exists
without diluting it with another forum.
