Roland, I am not an expert, but i don´t think the speed
of the ceiling jet really speaks to the heart of what I was
saying. What I was saying was the ceiling jet would not
stop because it was so deep relative to the purlin.
I was not considering it slowing down or turning back.
i was considering the smoke flowing and going below the purlin.

if we got a big fire at the floor (admittedly a special case),
and the ceiling is really high, the ceiling jet is going to be
so thick that the 8 inch purlins are going to look like a sidewalk
curb to Godzilla (we can leave Katrina out of this one).
No matter how slow Godzilla is going, he aint stopping at the
curb if the curb does not come up above his shin.

to me, the whole thing becomes very complicated
fire size, to a lesser degree fire area, ceiling height, purlin
  depth

and my point is: it might be too complicated to simply
call a dead subject by definition. but I don´t know.
that is why i put on neon green, and wrote like a
man awakened from the dead whose is running across the screen:
so you would see this thread
   and answer instead
of rolling your eyes in your head.

Roland, I know I have contradicted you a few times in
the past. I also know that I am an ignorant son-of-a-Katrina.
I mean that. I takes a long time for things to sink in with me.
That is why I ask the dumb questions. I intend NO disrespect.
NONE. Yes. sometimes i write in iambic pentameter. Big Sh**.
It is the content, not the font, that counts.

I am just looking for some logic to hang onto with the few
last brain cells I have firing. And I know you are one of the
guys who knows what is going on. So I counterpoint you
on occassion.
