I'd be skeptical, since I've been watching a Hotel fire for the last hour.
If everything was working, it looks like the sprinkler system was
overwhelmed.
I didn't see any roof manifolds in use, either.

Subject: residential heads / 4 head calc

I would not sign my name to a design with a one sprinkler
design area, if if the room were lined with stainless steel
wallboard.

What if the door were left open...or more likely...what if
the door had a door closer and it was chocked open.

I know, we can do "what ifs" until another WTC happens...
but there are a LOT of tradeoffs given for sprinklers, deservedly
so. Therefore, those of us designing the sprinklers live up
to the responsibility given us. Make SURE the sprinklers
do their job. One sprinkler design-areas don´t cut the
mustard for me.

What are we really saving in terms of pipe, versus the
downside we would be exposing the industry to?
