2007 NFPA13 8.16.2.4 is concerned with system, main drain, or sectional and
in this section 8.16.2.4.4. states such a requirement that you speak of;
however, to me the wording implies the act of draining and not drain testing
but logic might lead one to not want to stand in two feet of water though.

Subject: Main Drain on sprinkler system.

Is there anything in the code that says the drain on the floor must be
able to handle the full flow of the 2inch main drain? Plenty of times
the drain can't handle the flow when a main drain test is performed.
Thanks
