Quick response is ALLOWED in car parks like you describe; standard response is
also ALLOWED. You may benefit from quick response in these areas, as you can
take the QR reduction in your calculations if your ceiling is 20 ft. or less.

Quick response are REQUIRED only in Light Hazard.

These rules of NFPA 13 go back to the (I believe) 1996 edition.

Subject: Quick response Sprinklers- car parks

Hiii everyone..

Need some clarification regarding quick response sprinkler usage.

>From NFPA 13,2002, I found quick response sprinklers can be used for Light
& Ordinary Hazrad ocupancies.
I have read in some literatures that Quick reponse to be used only for
Light hazrad occupancy.
I am facing a lot of situations of highrise buildings where there are no.
of basements meant for carparks.
Now carparking area is a Ordinary hazard occupancy,I have seen many of the
consultants go for quick response in those areas. Is it really required ?

Can I provide standard response sprinklers in this area .?

Is there anythng I have missed out?
