NFPA 16, 2007 edition say's

5.14* Test Connections. System test connections shall be sized
to accommodate both the low flow of the proportioner and
the maximum anticipated flow through the proportioner.(Also see A5.14)

Then some special requirements appear in chapter 8

8.4.1.4.4 For balanced pressure and positive pressure proportioning
systems, flow tests shall be permitted to be conducted
through the test connections required in Section 5.13. For
other proportioning system types, full-flow testing of system
and discharge devices is required to properly evaluate the proportioning
system.

So the answer is generally yes, but if your system is not a balanced or
positive pressure proportioning system full flow testing is required, I'm
guessing thru the system?

Anyone out there on the 16 committee?

Subject: Foam test connection

I am a bit confused on the test connection for a foam-water sprinkler
system.
Does it only have to satisfy the minimum flow of the 4 most remote
sprinklers or does it also have accommodate the anticipated maximum flow
through the proportioner?
Thanks,
Dewayne
