Ed, What this section is allowing us to do is install, in most cases dependent on door size, one standard spray SW sprinkler under an OH door using light hazard spacing in an otherwise OH occupancy. For example, an OH door that is 14 x 12 using OH spacing of 130 sf would require 2 sidewalls, but using LH spacing of 196 sf one sprinkler can be installed. The use of LH ECSW's is not allowed, but the use of OH ECSW's is ok. The sprinkler will need to have a listing for ECOH in order to be used, and there are manufactures with this listing as Ben stated in his posting.

Section 8.4.3 addresses extended coverage sprinklers and doesn't mention OH doors. I interpret the above to mean that standard coverage sidewall sprinks can be installed beneath OH doors, but extended coverage sidewall sprinks can't. Correct?
