The oldest stuff that I can find is a 1914 Building Code published by
the Texas State Fire Insurance Commission and also a 1934 Building Code
by the National Board of Fire Underwriters...both require sprinklers in
theaters.

Subject: Sprinklers in the building code

Does anyone know when the first provisions for sprinklers (to any
extent) appeared in the building or fire code(s)?
