I am calculating a series of Deluge Systems for exposure protection on an
airport concourse and I have an HONEST question for you engineers out there.

How important is 5 psi truthfully when you are calculating 43 open 11.2 k
nozzles with a total demand of 1,500 gpm @ approximately 100 psi?

Due to the orientation (there is an "L" shape where the concourse meets the
main bldg), we have to calculate 350-400' of exposure instead of 300' and we
are running into a brick wall after balancing the individual non-symmetrical
systems (5 of them) when we get within about 5 psi. We have already replaced
the pump with the maximum we can go with the existing concrete encased conduit.

The EOR and AHJ are of course relying on us to make this work, etc, etc.

Thoughts?

Exactly but the problem with proving them empirically is that is after the
design and installation. If you "guessed" wrong it will cost ya!

So you buy Tyco's program or you empirically prove delivery times.
