This question is a continuation of my previous post about a FDC and a Cla-Val. There is no drip drum on the FDC piping. As per NFPA 13-20202, Section 8.16.2.6, there is to be an automatic drip valve. The pipe that needs the valve is covered with a tar. After drilling the pipe, is there a problem scraping the tar off? I do not thing the mechanical tee will seal with the tar in place. After scraping the tar off, is rust going to be a problem?
