Cal valve e-581 is field repairable. This valve has a very small seat area, and any dirt or sand on the seat can cause it to leak. It must also use the resilient seat not the metal to metal seat. http://www.cla-val.com/fire-protection.cfm
Flushing the seat may clear it, without opening up the valve. Thom McMahon, SET Firetech, Inc. 2560 Copper Ridge Dr P.O. The FDC is a 90° Siamese double clapper rising out of the ground. We are assuming the check valve is leaking. The check valve is a Cla-Val # 581. Is this valve repairable or should it be replaced? The building is only 4 years old. What is the normal life of a valve like this?
