Careful- the $1,000 is the damage from the FIRE. Damage from the sprinkler is what was EXTENSIVE.
They'd have been so much further ahead to not have the fire extinguished by a 20 GPM sprinkler, they could have let the fire rage outa control for awhile before having the FD show up and drown it. Then the water damage would have been less than the Fire damage and we'd not get bad press. We had a similar situation when one head saved a modular plant. I explained its tough to have a sprinkler system work with less than one head flowing, we really did the best we could. How would we know maintenance would let the sprinklers run for an hour, thinking they'd shut off the system when they hit the OFF button on the fire pump controller. Course it was 50 PSI city not 150 PSI boosted city, so I guess it looked OFF in comparison.
