Subject: Re: QR HSW in 13R residential dwelling unit

Remember that for standard coverage HSW sprinklers, NFPA 13 requires
installation at the highest point discharging down the slope. There is
no listing deviation from the standard that I am aware of. For slopes
greater than 2/12 pitch, EC and residential sprinklers must be listed to
discharge across the slope. In all cases, deflectors must be parallel
with the slope.

Can you ignore the deflector orientation rules for NFPA 13 when using a
QR HSW sprinkler in a NFPA13R building?
IE: Throw across a 4/12 pitch slope?

I don't think so but 13R (07ed) 6.7.7.3 doesn't specifically address
deflector orientation so maybe?
