NM on the minimum spacing-in accordance with NFPA 13, 2002 Edition, section
8.6.3.4.3 "In-rack sprinklers shall be permitted to be placed less than 6 ft
on center."

I have read that section about 100 times over the years but for some reason
I was restricting myself to Chapter 12 since I did not think chapter 8 would
have made it that plain as day in relating to something like in-rack
sprinklers. DUH!

There is still a legitimate issue of the actual maximum allowed spacing
though. I have always been under the impression that as long as you do not
exceed 130 square feet per sprinkler and protect each rack's flue space you
are spaced correctly.
