Not all flexible sprinkler head pipe systems are listed for dry system use, but
those that are can be from what I understand. I believe this scenario is the
only reason they're even listed for use in a dry system. You'll need to face
your branch outlets up obviously to get the return bend effect. I believe
Viking's Flex Head system is listed, but you should check, there are or were
2-3 systems and most people call them all flex heads so you need to be sure the
actual system you're using is listed.

Subject: Flex heads in lieu of return bends

If this has been discussed previously I could not find it on the forum or in
the informal interps..

Can a flex head be installed in such a manner to replace a return bend in
accordance with 7.2.2 (returns bends feeding heads in which both are in a
heated space on a dry system)

Thanks,
Greg
