1. The term voluntary was used in reference to the fact that Central volunteered to make the replacements before the CPSC forced them to do it, I'm not sure there's any direct legal enforcement but I wouldn't characterize the replacement process as "voluntary" from the perspective of whether or not it needed to be done. 2. I would imagine the building owner would bear the most responsibility, but in our litiguous society I'd expect the installing contractor, AHJ and others could be dragged in 3. I believe FM requires it when they are found Whether or not it's "mandatory" is a bit of a gray area, but I would say leaving a recalled product in place is a bad idea and if I ran across them I would present it as a "must be done" just as a CYA. Since the recall period has ended the owner is on the hook to replace them out of pocket. Mike Morey, SET, CFPS Sprinkler Designer BMW Constructors, Inc. The AHJ for not requiring the change? 3) Did a lot of insurance companies require head replacement? Thanks for the help...evidently there is a local competitor that has found some and is telling the owner that the Head Replacement is mandatory and MUST be performed immediately.
