First off, if this is inappropriate for the forum, please delete. I thought
I'd put the word out where it would get the best audience and hopefully the
best response.

We are looking at expanding our fire protection design group.

It would be best if you were from this area as this will start out as a
contract labor position with potential to go direct hire.

We are looking for a experienced fire protection designer with at minimum a
proficiency in AutoCad and the attitude and ability to learn other design
software on the fly. Not much time and money spent in training here. Learn as
you go. Yeah it sounds tough but if you're not up to the challenge just
delete this and go back to reading Field and Stream.

Detailed design is not the norm in this industry so the majority of work will
probably be design criteria drawings. Occasionally we do provide full detailed
engineering and use AutoCad MEP 3D and have started using Revit MEP.

The ability to understand and interpret building and fire codes, NFPA Standards
and other industry documentation is a plus and if you're not proficient in
this, you will be, this is a big chunk of our design effort.

The understanding of how to read and interpret MSDS information, perform hazard
analysis' is also desirable.

We don't do residential or commercial design, the projects we work on are often
cutting edge, new technologies, special hazard operations which take some
thinking out of the box at times and a lot of research. We also do some out
of the box industrial stuff now and then and maybe an associated office
building.

The work is very diversified and challenging, schedules are maddening but the
people are great to work with and our office is one of our major design centers
so we have stayed busy even during the downturns of the last few years.

If you are interested please e-mail me directly with a resume and work
experience.

No snake oil salesmen need apply. I don't have time to read puffed up
exaggerated resumes, if you're not the real deal and can't back up your resume,
don't send one. I'm also not looking for any manager types.

Thanks,

Craig L. Prahl, CET
