1. Assumption - Manual stop (as in base NFPA 20) It keeps running because it's manual shut down. If it is stopped manually and reset to normal it will restart if the pressure drops below start. But if you stop it with the controller disconnect and leave it off it will obviously never restart until the switch is returned to normal.
1. Assumption - Automatic stop and the pressure is above its start point It would shut down or exactly the same thing as closing the system control valve of whatever is flowing. It will restart if the pressure drops below start. 2. I don't see why. About the only good it might do is so you know after the incident and all the flow is stopped the pump is probably still running. But as you clear the fire alarm panel it will tell you the same thing or if remote the central station. One might even argue it's a bad idea to put a sign up there is a fire pump. Some FF might get 'smart' and skip the FDC thinking 'fire pump has this, I don't need my truck' only to find out later while walking through the rubble mopping up hot spots days later the battery was in the maintenance guys boat and the pump never started. Stretching a bit I'll acknowledge. Does the pump shut down if the fire engine pumps a greater pressure than the pump? How does that happen? Will the pump restart if the fire engine stops pumping? 2. Should there be signage at the FDC notifying fire dept. that a fire pump may be in operation? Owen Evans -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
