I know this is following comments about coupons down the rabbit hole, but I assume I'm not the only fire inspector to have a fitter reach in his box, pull out a nice wired ring of coupons of various schedules and pipe sizes and say "how many you want?"
Guess he represents the boy scout fitter, always prepared. It seems to my memory that the mechanical -"T" did not always come with so called centering nibben. When they showed up I was told that they were exactly to force a tap into the providing pipe. The assumption was the getting out the Dremel tool and grinding it flat was slower than just drilling the hole. bv ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Canham" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, July 19, 2013 11:58:03 AM Subject: Re: Mechanical Tees REPLY The Navy does not allow them. No reason provided If my old memory is working I think they originally required a hanger within 3' of a horizontal mechanical tee. It at some point was modified to no horizontal mechanical tees then to no mechanical tees on new work. I never heard any reason for the changes David Canham Fire Systems Solutions Sent from my iPhone On Jul 19, 2013, at 2:05 PM, Charles Thurston <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello Craig, > > Been done in North of the border in South Carolina also. > > Friday, July 19, 2013, 11:28:18 AM, you wrote: > >> South of the border I've seen entire systems installed with nothing >> but mechanical tees.
