What your are missing is ABET is wrong in the definition. First engineering of
sprinklers ended in 1896. Second I'll make an attempt to fix definition"
...gained by study, experience, reading the code and practice is applied with
suspended judgment to develop ways to utilize, economically, the materials and
forces of nature for the benefit of mankind without getting sued."

And there you have it. If you're not concerned about full flowing PRVs who
cares about an occasional leaking sprinkler because it was 178 psi instead
of 175 psi? I think the owner, the insurer, the engineer, the architect,
and the AHJ need a "come to Jesus meeting" meeting and look at this
rationally. Per ABET, "Engineering is the profession in which a knowledge
of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and
practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize, economically,
the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind." I'm missing
the "experience and practice applied with judgement" to "economically
benefit mankind," part here.
