We have done a ton of these and this is how we treat them. If it's a new install we do the whole thing as oh grp 2 minimum. If it's a tenant retrofit we treat it as follows: The front of the store where if they sell product we treat as OH Grp 2, extend that 15' to the hair cutting area if necessary. Hair cutting area light hazard, stock room oh grp 2 or one of the higher storage densities if that's what they are doing. You just don't have enough of anything in the hair cutting area to consider it ordinary hazard, and we only do the retail area as OH as a catch all. You could almost argue that there isn't enough of anything being sold to consider this retail. Most of the products are just shampoo with a few aerosols here and there. 2 shelves hardly constitutes retail. I have more flammables in my light hazard office than a salon has in their retail area. But it only amounts to 2-4 sprinkler heads and its hardly worth the cost of a resubmittal.
