The divider goes from floor to ceiling (open to structure). My first thoughts 
too were the hospital curtain theory even though that's for LH only. If heads 
were on both sides of this thing they would "cold solder" each other if they 
ever went off.

Could be similar to the hospital curtain rule exception Sorry don't have a NFPA
