The only issue may be pattern development. With a grated floor, there
is nothing that will prevent pattern development. With the wire mesh in
the wall, it may affect pattern development. So, if it doesn't continue
to at least 18" below the deflector in the vertical plane, you may not
be comparing apples to oranges when using the same thinking of grated
flooring.

Brian,
I believe if you can apply the 70% open rule to mezzanines, the same would hold
true for an obstruction in the vertical plane if it's 70% open. You might look
into that thinking.
It's late in the day and my brain is a little fried so I may be way off in my
thinking.

The divider goes from floor to ceiling (open to structure). My first thoughts too were
the hospital curtain theory even though that's for LH only. If heads were on both sides
of this thing they would "cold solder"
each other if they ever went off.

How far down from the ceiling/ deck does the divider go?
Could be similar to the hospital curtain rule exception Sorry don't have a NFPA
13 code book handy

I am working on a project that the owner wants to install a wire mesh divider. The screen

I'm saying heads are not required on both sides but I'm getting push back from
the engineer reviewing the plans. What say ye?
