One in every stairwell is a starting point but all portions of the floor must
be reached (200 ft as Gregg pointed out - some day I’ll learn to look in the
book). When the stair wells extend to all floors, additional connections are
seldom needed but this type of a case can be expected to trigger the hallway
connection.

7.3.2.11* Additional hose connections shall be provided in buildings
sprinklered in accordance with NFPA 13 or NFPA 13R where the distance from
connections required by 7.3.2.1 through 7.3.2.3 to the most remote portion or
story exceeds 200 ft (61 m).

7.3.2.11.1 The distance in 7.3.2.10 and 7.3.2.11 shall be meas‐ ured from the
hose connection.
