We have been requested by a general contractor to look into and possibly furnish signage required by NY state code that indicates the building construction type. They are wood construction townhomes which will contain some sort of truss-construction and OSB. I'm pretty sure if I have the correct requirements found here https://www.dos.ny.gov/dcea/pdf/Part1264.pdf but wanted to see if anyone on here had run into this whether in NY or elsewhere. What were those requirements? My understanding is the signs serve as a warning for fire departments of the dangers of the construction-type when in a fire situation. Are the signs required on dwelling units and townhomes? And is it really just a letter or two that designates the construction type? Thank you in advance for your input.
