According to table 16.2.2.1(a) it is "NA"." In response to your question we have reviewed NFPA 13, 2007 edition that you indicated as the applicable standard. Our informal interpretation is that a 500 gpm hose allowance is required. The 1999, 2002, and 2007 editions all contained errors on this issue. If you go back to the 1998 edition of NFPA 231C, Table 9-1.1 shows a 500 gpm hose allowance for Class I commodities in racks for both wet and dry systems. When it was compiled into the 1999 edition of NFPA 13, Table 7-9.4.1.2 shows a 500 gpm hose allowance for wet pipe and a "-" under 500 gpm for dry pipe. In the process of refining the Tables, the 2002 edition converted the "-" to an N/A. This was repeated in the 2007 edition. In the 2010 edition it was recognized that an error had been made and Table 16.2.2.1 now shows a 500 gpm hose allowance for all CMSA sprinkler systems as was required by the last edition of NFPA 231C.
