Sorry.  Since it was httpd.conf stuff I didn't think the distribution made 
a difference other than pathnames.

Redhat Linux 7.2+ using either the stock RPMs or some from the RH errata 
pages.  apache-1.2.20-16 and mod_ssl-2.8.4-9.

One other thing.  A couple of years ago I admin'd a small hosting site.  
All were virtualhosts so I came up with a script to create the basic
configuration and used Include to read in each sites files.  Therefore my
httpd.conf file remained static and the virtual.conf file would get a new
entry and the virtual directory would get a new file for each new site.
