In using rpms, configuring ssl occurs after compiling, while compiling 
apache with --enable-module=ssl from source involves creating a test 
cert, which is basically what you want here.

Hint: if you don't want to enter a passphrase every time you restart 
apache, then don't chose to encrypt the private key, unless you want 
to use expect to authenticate the server passphrase for you.

That's all well and good, but you need to remember that you can run only 
one secure server per copy of apache. You can install more than one 
instance of apache with some pretty severe customization, etc. You need to 
compile these all from sources.
