Thanks to all who replied. Richard, you specifically said that “on posix, filenames are expected to be UTF8”; sorry, I’m not very familiar with the POSIX standard, but I wasn’t aware that was the case? This page:
http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/basedefs/V1_chap03.html#tag_03_271 seems to suggest that a pathname may not be in any specific character encoding, and, in fact, may not even be a “character string” (i.e. text). It doesn’t mention UTF-8. Anyway, now that I know the plan is not to change SQLite’s behaviour, I’ll treat it accordingly. -- Christopher Head
