I believe that I have found the culprit: Spicefly SugarCube. Thing is, on my previous server settings on the other machine I never had this problem with Spicefly. I always had it enabled (for several years) and could still use shuffle when playing albums or folders. I'm going to check with Charles and see if I screwed up something when I setup everything on this new machine.
Now, if I can just get the scanner to stop running ALL of the time and locking up on random files and never finishing a scan.
