In my setup I don't have any clients on the modem subnet by intention except for the Orbi so allowing the dhcp server on the modem to keep working does not present problem. I turn off the WiFi on the modem because that's what the Orbi is for. I do this because I also DMZ the internet traffic to the Orbi router on the modem and just use the Orbi NAT. This effectively removes the modem from my house network and makes the modem path from the internet to the Orbi very direct. Also when the modem dies or gets changed and I get a new one it's a simple replacement and initial setup. The only problem is if the default LAN IP addresses of the modem and Orbi are the same e.g. 192.168.1.0. Then either the Orbi or modem LAN address should be changed to something like 192.168.10.0 along with the corresponding dhcp server address range. I leave the Orbi in Router mode. Then it's just a matter of hooking up the modem and the Orbi and then following the rest of the Orbi instructions on setting up the Orbi with your house network. I was suggesting using a wired backhaul for the Orbi only if your house is wired for ethernet. Otherwise the Orbi wireless backhaul should work fine with careful placement of the satellite Orbis. I wouldn't recommend adding powerline networking into the mix at this time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ zeke1831's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71469 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114379 _______________________________________________ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
