Again, there are a large number of threads about electricity consumption of always on servers which may give you some more information.
Depending on your choice of hardware, you may be able to program it to startup/shutdown at certain times of the day and night which will help with energy consumption (although startup/shutdown can be quite intensive power-wise). Look at the BIOS (if Windows) to see if startup/shutdown can be scheduled. If spontaneous combustion is a serious concern, I guess you'd be stuck with manually turning it on and off. On mp3tunes, my experience is that streams can be quite choppy even at high bitrate mp3 - bandwidth issues at my end and server load at theirs by the looks of it. It's a good portable solution for when you don't want to have a server on, but I don't think it's designed for serious high bitrate listening. -- Siduhe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Siduhe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=723 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46062 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
