If you're interested in audio quality, you're going to need a server of
some sort.  Look in the 3rd party hardware forums - there are
discussions about the best servers and NAS devices which can run
Squeezecenter every day.  The big problem is that a lot of devices are
underpowered to run Squeezecenter 7.0 (which you need for the Duet to
work).  You need at least 256MB Ram I believe.

For myself, I have an old Dell PC shut away downstairs with LogMeIn
installed on it (so no monitor, no keyboard).  That way I can remotely
log into the PC using my laptop if I need to reinstall or reboot.  You
can pick up an old PC for very little, if you don't see it you don't
need to worry about form factor.  Use XP if that's what it comes with,
or install a free Linux OS which will use less resources. Just my 0.02,
but I suspect you may find that easier than hacking an NAS to run
Squeezecenter.
