it may not be the niche audience you think it is. the following is a paraphrasing from an online story about a washington post article about NPR: "The washington post reported that "Morning Edition's" average daily audience of 7.6 million, is about 60 percent larger than the audience for "Good Morning America," and a piece currently up at Fast Company says that NPR's 26.4 million listeners weekly trumps USA Today's 2.3 million daily circ or Fox News' 2.8 million prime-time audience." you mention the other outlets that provide quality programming and you're right there are other places that people can find intelligent programs. However, the key component that isn't being mentioned is the cost of these other outlets. Nat Geo tends to be offered on the upper tier of most cable packages as does sundance. Bravo, A&E and TLC-if you can find a show on any of those networks that is anywhere near the quality of PBS programming you may have a second career as a sleuth. the networks that have given us Project Runway, Jon and kate plus 8 and the real housewives of new jersey might be a bit suspect. and with the immense level of waste that makes up our federal government, I would venture to guess that the funding of npr and pbs is minor blip in the larger scheme of things. -- exile ------------------------------------------------------------------------ exile's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4579 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70539 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezenetwork
