Works again for me with v7.7 now. Think I made a mistake when I checked last.fm it my songs are scrobbled or not. It works with 7.7 but did not work with 7.6 for me. Sorry for confusion.
For those asking if a subscription is needed or not: For Germany I can say that it's needed if last.fm is used by a Squeezebox (or other devices).
