SM uses SMTP (or a local program) as primary protocol to send email.
To access your mailbox it uses IMAP as primary mailbox access protocol.

SM can access POP3 mailboxes but cannot use it as a primary mailbox
protocol. You will still need a IMAP server in order to read mail.
The POP3 plugins only downloads mails from the POP3 mail server and
puts them in a IMAP mailbox before you can access them via the SM web
interface.

As i understand there is no plans to use POP3 as a primary mailbox access
protocol. Most likely due to the limitations POP3 has. POP3 was then
also never designed to be used as a mail storage protocol and you
only have access to a single mailbox (INBOX). Dont confuse this
with that you in a POP3 mail client has more mailboxes.. They are local
to the client...

In your case it then looks like you have to ask your ISP nicely
and see if he perhaps have a IMAP access to your mailbox..
Or even better.. Ask him to replace his current webmail with SM...
