You may want to wait until the source stabalizes and another version is released. All I can tell you is that the version you have compiles cleanly for me on a Red Hat 7.2 system (except for the eperror stuff, but that's just a warning, anyway).

Hrm, if you have a binary of it.. I wonder if it'd work OK on a Gentoo box.
Oh, wait. the Makefile asks for config.php paths.. so I guess it wouldn't. =/
