EIMS works great with SM.
In EIMS account control panel set IMAP enabled other than account enabled
and Login enabled. If your users use only IMAP set required auth enable
otherwise (POP3) you have to use SMTP AUTH on the client side and leave it
disable.

In SM conf set
$smtpServerAddress (use the host name)
$imapServerAddress (use the host name)
$uid_support false
$smtp_auth_mech cram-md5
$imap_auth_mech cram-md5
