I've been successfully running openssh 2.3.0p1 on RedHat 6.2 boxes.
On upgrading to openssh 2.5.1p1 the sshd refuses to start and enable
protocol 2.
The error is "Disabling protocol version 2. Could not load host key.
I have tried starting the daemon in debug mode (what's with that anyway -
that should be more complete in the error messages...) and got no new
information.
I have tried generating new host keys on the command line and populating
/usr/local/etc again using make host-keys.
The daemon does not like the host keys this new version is generating - the
permissions look okay, but the host keys for version 2 will not load.
I reverted back to 2.3.0 and all is well.
If someone does manage to solve this error (or stumbles on why and can help
fix it) I'd appreciate hearing about it.
