For the main body of the boiler wouldn't the material of choice be copper
tubing or pipe since there would be no seam and the shape is already set?
Using sheet would require a seam and more work.

I'm working in ½" to the foot (45mm between the rails) 'cause my
girls like Dollies who can ride the train. Harry and Mike have given me the
idea to get thicker sheet for the ends, but that the sheet would be okay for
the body. Harry and I have discussed boilers before... at length huh Harry!

        Terry,
It all depends on what size boiler you are talking about! If you are
building a 3/4" scale raritan, it will be fine! If you are building
an "O"
gauge 0-4-0, it's probably to heavy! Yet, if you are building a 15"
gauge
4-8-4, it's probably too small! So, we need more informamtion as to
it's
intended use to make an educated guess.
        Sincerely, Keith

        Harry, and any others,
I got a sheet of copper that is .034" thickness. Would this be
thick
enough to be a boiler? I looked in my Mechanics handbook, and found
that the
copper is about 22 gauge. I am thinking that it will be fine. Let me
know.
