I run a mixture of brass and AI rail here in the SF
Bay area. I use Al rail where ever there is little
possibility of "giants" stepping on the rail.
Al does bend easily. I run live steam and battery
power, never have had track power. Other than bending
due to a heavy foot the Al rail has stood up well for
more than 12 years. The rails (Al & Brass)are at
ground level on a gravel ballast. I have had nominal
electrolysis using brass rail joiners through out. The
electrolysis very minor and has not been a problem.
Our weather is mild compared to most of North America
altho we do have air pollution issues that I believe
contribute to the electrolysis issue.
