Using github's bug tracker could lead to a vendor lock-in. Especially for (hopefully) long living projects a self-hosted open-source bug tracker would be preferable in my eyes. Who knows if github still exists in 10 years? Who knows if the allow you to retrieve a full dump of your data if they close down? - Florian
