Additional flags are not really necessary for Android, and were not
necessary for iOS. All it said was basically 'server has some updates
for you', so the client connected to the server and fetched everything
it missed, displaying it in regular ways. It worked pretty well before
Apple changed policies with background notifications, but it still
works ok on Android.
