I would start with the CD drive. Try purchasing a can of compressed
air and blowing out the innards of the drive or buy a CD cleaning kit
and following it's instructions. Also, I would not expect a
start-up CD labeled for a specific Mac to work on the StarMax
computers, with the exception of a CD for a PM 4400 computer.
