You are correct I've got an 20Gig ATA/100 Maxtor in my 4000 and it 
runs perfectly, any drive you choose will have to be backward 
compatable though, which I think is one of the reasons why Starmax 
users seem to favour Maxtor drives. You will need an ATA/66/100 cable 
though, something to do with the drives mode negotiation or something 
like that.
