Hello List. I am pleased to say that today I finally received and setup my new iMac G4. It runs beautifully. But, I'm afraid that in all excitement of getting a new Mac, I failed to recongnize the feelings of my poor old StarMax 3000/240. It had to sit there, all alone and watch a fast cute new computer that blows it out of the water be installed in it's former place. How devistating it must have been. How insensitive of me.
But don't worry, my StarMax got back at me. Just as soon as the new baby was up and running, my StarMax began making a terrible grinding sound. At first I figured it was just a fan, but after further examination, it came all too clear that it was, in fact, the hard drive. For my questions. How soon do you suppose my HD will last. It is currently running just fine, except for the noise, which is getting worse. Secondly, is it posible to repair a hard disk with this problem, or must I replace it? And if I must replace it, what is a good one to replace it with? Will any ide drive work?
